Kinesiology Taping

What is Kinesiology Tape?

Have you been seeing people wearing multi-colored tape around their knees, ankles, elbows, shoulders, necks, and lower backs?  If so, are you wondering what the advantage of this (fairly) new taping method is?  This tape is called Kinesiology tape and it has a multitude of uses to help your body heal and function at a higher level!

So how does it work?

Kinesiology tape is an elastic based tape which gently lifts the skin to help allow better circulation between the skin and muscle layers.  This allows your body to process and rid an area of inflammation faster.  Due to the elasticity of the tape, we can apply it to either help a muscle move through a particular motion or limit the motion of a particular joint.

What does it feel like?

The tape creates a very subtle ‘pull’ on your muscles.  Most of the time you won’t really know that it is even there until you get towards the end of the range of motion which we are trying to help.  This is different from the traditional athletic taping which was generally used to limit a joints motion and feels very restrictive.

What can it help with?

-Plantar Fasciitis
-Rotator Cuff Injuries
-Whiplash
-Patellar Tracking
-Lower Back Sprain/Strains
-Bruising
-Joint Support
-Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
-Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow
-Ankle Sprains
-Pre and Post Surgery Swelling
-Scar Tissue
-Athletic Injury Prevention
-Wrist Sprains
